Shadukar

Shadukar, once called the "Jewel of the Sound", was a beautiful city in Thrane, built into a rocky shelf overlooking Scions Sound and Thronehold.    In 959 YK, a Karrnathi force stormed the city from Cyre. The city's defenders were completely unprepared, and the Karrnathi force had taken control of the city in a matter of hours. Karrnath held the city hostage for the next two years, repelling Thrane's attempt to reclaim it and looting and pillaging what they could. They let famine run rampant, and reanimated Thranes that died to replenish their ranks.   In 961 YK, Karrnath finally withdrew from the city. They left the undead Thranes behind with orders to kill indiscriminately, locked the gates, and put the city to the torch. The loss of life was staggering, with more than 70,000 Thranes dying in a few days, making it one of the worst massacres to occur during the Last War.   The city was never rebuilt, and most people in Thrane consider it to be cursed. The Knights of Thrane were able to destroy the remaining undead, but this enacted a heavy toll on their numbers, and the city has been abandoned ever since.
