Church of the Wyrm Ascendant

The Church of the Wyrm Ascendant is an alternate interpretation of the Sovereign Host. The tradition worships the Sovereigns in the same groupings, and with the same names, as the Pyrinean Creed. Where it differs is in how it depicts the Sovereigns.
The Church of the Wyrm Ascendant asserts that the champions who fought the Overlords were dragons, and it depicts them as such. The sect is very focused on gathering wealth and economic powers, with individual temples maintaining a hoard in emulation of what they believe the Sovereigns to be. Vassals who follow the Wyrm Ascendant are expected to contribute to their temples hoard, and priests often engage in behaviour that could rightly be called corrupt.
Vassals of the Wyrm Ascendant believe that it is possible for a mortal to ascend and become a dragon, replacing the Sovereign they emulated. One unsubstantiated rumour is that Lord Dorius Alyre ir'Korran, the gnome who founded the Library of Korranberg, was a Vassal of the Wyrm Ascendant, and that he founded the library in an attempt to usurp Aureon.
The Church of the Wyrm Ascendant believes that the dragons are tools and emissaries of the divine, that they represent the Sovereigns and the Six. They hold to this belief, regardless of the fact that few dragons have acknowledged the church even exists. Vassals of the Wyrm Ascendant nevertheless assert that the dragons themselves follow a similar religion to their own.
The Church of the Wyrm Ascendant is most prevalent in Aundair and Zilargo, but even there it remains an obscure and unorthodox faith.
