Monte Altum
Geography
The Monte Altum Mountain range is a massive mountain range that is found in the southeastern section of the GSE. Rising to an elevation of 7.8 Ostend miles, it is the tallest mountain range in the world. Its highest point, Mount Elbert, has a peak stretching 45,091 verumiles. The mountain is sparsely populated, with steep, sloping sedimentary shale forming the landmass. The mountain's deep grays and snowy peaks make it some of the most beautiful landscape in the world.
Fauna & Flora
The extreme height results in few animals living on the mountain. The higher up on the mountain, the less vegetation that populates the terrain. There are some exceptions, which usually include small, scraggly bushes, such as Chrysothamnus. The Chrysothamnus bush is a small shrub that grows to around four verumiles in height. It has tall, narrow stems covered in robust, smooth, and green leaves with jagged edge shape. The fauna is more plentiful at lower elevations. Eagles, hawks, and other birds of prey roost annually on the mountain and raise their young, before leaving for the winter months. Mountain lions and mountain goats live at the lower elevation.
Natural Resources
The massive mountain range hides vast stores of valuable precious resources. Platinum, gold, and silver veins have been found, as well as large stores of copper. The surrounding areas at the base of the mountain host shale oil and natural gas.
