Magic Beasts
Magic beasts are animals who have been enhanced in some way through Ki, mana, or psi. They usually have different markings or traits that set them apart from their animal Cousins; Whether this is extra stripes or markings, multiple eyes, tusks or horns, or just increased size. The markings usually have something to do with the affinity of energy the beast has begun cultivating.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
Most magic beasts can only reproduce with their nonmagical species in the low levels. Higher cultivation makes the beast less able to reproduce, and even less so if it is trying to reproduce with nonmagical animals.
Growth Rate & Stages
Once a beast has acclimated to an affinity and begun cultivating, moving up from the first stage can take anywhere from a month to years depending on the World Energy density of the area. Dungeon beasts do not actively cultivate unless they are the system recognized patriarch or matriarch. With a few exceptions, omnivores and carnivores cultivate the fastest, with herbivores being slower to cultivate but less rare.
Ecology and Habitats
Anywhere and everywhere, especially in harsh habitats where beast would normally not be.
Biological Cycle
Longevity of the species is extended through cultivation, and hibernation and other biorhythms can differ depending on the affinity.
Additional Information
Social Structure
Herds or groups of magic beasts can form, and usually have a alpha pair, either matriarchal or patriarchal, that lead the rest (usually the most powerful mated pair).
Domestication
Domestication only really forms through a familiar bond, so beast and sentient cultivating together.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Forced Familiar bonds, slavebonding sentient beasts, and other forms of abuse are common in the less civilized or moral areas of post flash earth. The System is extremely protective of sentient beings, and will visit bounties and or curses on perpetrators heads, but forced familiar bonds are not as well policed by the system, and are subject to local laws and regulations.
Average Intelligence
Intelligence improves with the accumulation of psi, so species that specialize in psi tend to be extremely intelligent or even sentient.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Magic beasts are usually named after their parent breed and the identifying mark or affinity.
