They claim the lands as a protectorate province in hopes of deterring Bristols ever demanding desire for timber.

Bristol was experiencing a boom in trade, having secured the Rift passage and opened trade with the far West and East. Needing to meet the demand for lumber had left their wood stock severely depleted. They had begun to send loggers to Lappland to exploit the natural wealth of pine and cedar there. Gråbløff was feeling left out of the wealth of international trade, so they claimed Lappland as a protectorate.
