The Chapel of Light

The Chapel of Light was formed in Bulvirk towards the end of the age of Darkness. According to the Books of Salvation, the prophetess Hilde vos Stolburg encountered an angel of "God"; a supreme benevolent force in the universe. The angel delivered to her the clerical and Paladinic schools of warfare, which helped turn the tide of the Darkness.   Since its inception, the chapel of light has gained a large following in the Wosterhiem Continent, superseding the many small local traditions and faiths.

Public Agenda

Defend the weak, uphold righteousness, contest evil.

Cosmological Views

The Chapel of Light recognizes that Earssea is distant from divinity and that the aid that the gods provide is limited to the clerical traditions.

Tenets of Faith

1.Evil is known by it's fruit. So to is goodness.

2.No true god seeks dominion of another, but respects the purpose and individuality of others.

3.All persons are welcome to believe, and also to not believe.

4.Divinity is transparent and open. No lies cloud the vision of the saints.

5.Faith is communicable, but a chapel is not it's own community, rather a service provided to a greater community.

6.Faith incites zeal, which in turn incites action.

7.There is no power, only different forms of servitude.

Worship

Main services for the Twelve Divines happens on Saturday's and Sunday's. There are minor services for obscurer deities throughout the week, on demand for believers.

Religious days of the year include: Whispernacht (Nov.23rd which commemorates the first time a devotee heard the voice of her god in recorded history, and Ascension Day (August 30th which commemorates the death of Hilde vos Stolburg.

Priesthood

Twelve Liaison Clerics oversee the operation and ordinance of greater chapel activities and projects, representing the the twelve prime deities who have been most active in Earssea. They are aided by the Clerics Attending, who pursue these agendas with their acolytes.

Individual congregations are served by a Parson or Reverend; a Cleric who has accomplished his mission; a three year walkabout in the country aiding in all they can. A Reverend/Parson is subject only to the Paladin orders.

The Paladin orders are the perpetual Missionaries, often taking oaths to uphold different tenets  of the Chapel. The Masters of each order reports to an Attending Cleric, and may receive orders, in times of trouble, from a Liaison Cleric.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The Chapel of Light is a state endorsed organization in Bulvirk and is of notable power throughout all of the Wosterhiem nations, with the singular exception of El-Hiemdelle.

The Chapel keeps it's organization transparent by implementing a Rank by servitude policy which sees rank climbers performing missions to prove their zeal, often years long. An Attending Cleric has to have at least nine years of mission under their belt before they can be considered a candidate for Liaison Cleric.

Sects

Disciples of Bahamut-Led by the Liaison of Bahamut, this sect follows all the teachings of Hilde vos Stolberg ardently and to the letter. Clerics of this sect often minister to the constabulary in communities. They wear hooded silver and blue robes.

Disciples of Torm-Led by the Liaison of Torm, this sect adheres to the study and upholding of law by the standards of the believers. Clerics of this sect often serve judiciary bodies and community leaders. They wear grey robes tied with a black sash.

The Red Fellowship-Led by the Sanguine Liaison, this sect is absorbed in the tactical and intelligent application of war. Clerics of this order are often recruited as scouts and advisers by military's across Wosterhiem. They wear a single wide red sash around their mid-waist.

The Merry Monastics-Led by the Liaison of Corellon(Always elven in descent), this sect is responsible for many of the artistic endeavors of the chapel. Clerics of this order minister to artists of Wosterhiem with a exceedingly ardent zeal, befriending poets and painters and coaxing them to a state of inspiration. They wear spring colours of sky blue, gold, and green.

The Nuns of Fortune- Led by the Abbess of Tymora, this female led sect seeks to aid those who need a little luck in their life. Clerics of this order are particularly loved for their tradition of delivering gifts to children on Whispernacht Morn. They wear plain clothing and a coin around their necks

The Golden Economists-Led by the Abbot of Waukeen, this sect is all about numbers, balances and exchange rates. Clerics of this order veneture into the world to provide financial advice and record business trends in different markets, making them the most widespread order of clerics, running chapels as far as Stygland. They all seem to wear glasses and/or visors.

Tearkeepers-Led by the Veiled Matron, this sect is perhaps the strangest of them all. Members of this sect wear veils by day and only reveal their features at night. They worship Selûne, and minister exclusively to the despondent, lonely and hurting people of Wosterhiem. Often encountered on moonlit docks they speak in hushed soothing tones to their broken congregations. They wear light grey robes and simple gauze veils.

Servents of the Silenced-Led by the Liaison of Ilmater, this sect concerns itself with ethics and rights. Members of this order train to contest cruelty in all it's forms. Strangely enough they  sometimes practice self flagellation as part of their mission. They wear crimson robes.

Apprentices of Moradin-Led by the Paragon of Moradin, this sect oversees the construction projects of the Chapel. Mainly made up of dwarvish clergy, there are some human and even elvish members. They wear brown leather coats.

Spellsingers-Led by Mystra's Chosen, this order concerns itself with the study of magic. Members of this sect include of of the highest ranking members of the Magiocracy in Wosterhiem. Members of this sect wear a mantle of blue and silver stars on their shoulders.

Shroudweavers Led by Liaison of Kelemvor, this order tends to the dead. While any cleric can deliver the last rites, a cleric of Kelemvor alone is capable of discerning the trajectory of a departed soul. This makes them respected and eared among secretive communities, as they can glean hidden truths about the deceased after death. They are clad in hooded dark grey robes.

Holy Vintners-Le by the Bishop of Melora, this order dispenses ecological wisdom to the people of Wosterhiem. They tend graveyards and vinyards alike, growing the chapels food and gardens. Holy Vintners also keep a cordial discourse with members of the older druidic faiths. They where aprons of leather and green sashes around their waists.

Justice and Good above all, Reason before Wrath, Hope in Darkness for there is always another Dawn.
