Moloch Dome

We have no idea how they did it, the first Lautians, how they lived in the Outlands, survived in them for so long. With the monsters that roam the ground, it was bound to happen, that they would be ran out of their homes, but it's still a mystery how they managed to flourish as a civilization for so long in these dangerous lands.
  • Zyanya, Starkeeper researcher
  • Moloch Domes were the well-guarded secrets of Lautian societies. Stretching across entire cities, these protection domes kept at bay the most ferocious and dangerous creatures the Outlands had to offer. The catch? These domes, and the devices projecting them, were powered by divine boons and favors. There was a time were every Lautian city had its patron/matron, and this divinity protected them from the dangers of the world by channeling divine power through the spheres that projected these domes. However, when the Gods' powers vanished, banished by the Mortals, so did the domes, suddenly exposing an entire civilization to whims of a cruel environment. This loss would eventually cause the downfall of what came before Lautia.
    Complexity
Considering that this technology is functionally self-powered, its complexity lies in the spheres, called Molochavens, that channel the divine energy in order to project the domes. These orbs, usually made out of precious materials and decorated according to the city's deity and mythology, were an intricate assembling of mirrors and arcane catalysts, projecting divine energy all around its circumference. The dome's limits were traced with a mix of pewter and locally-sourced resins, which was laid across the ground at the city's limits.
