National University of Cormyr

The National University of Cormyr, located in the Cormyrean capital of Suzail, is the oldest and most prestigious university in the country. The university was founded not long after the Cormyr's establishment by the ruling Obarskyr monarchy. It was originally a military academy, and its graduates contributed greatly to the expansion of the fledgling nation. Following the tumultuous period between 376 DR and 432 DR, during which the country was assailed by dragons and briefly ruled by pirates, the Obarskyrs broadened the university's scope in a bid to lure back the many noble families who had fled the chaos for the Dalelands or Waterdeep. Today the university is best known for its programs in arcane arts, political science, and medicine.

Sensory & Appearance

The university building is grand in scale. Its construction concept was, "knowledge casts out the darkness", and as such copious windows illuminate the interior with natural light. The lower floors are filled with classrooms, while the upper stories contain staff offices and research laboratories.

Denizens

Professor Valentina Windrivver is a researcher and professor specializing in arcane history. She's worked at the university for most of her professional career and has built up a reputation as one of the most engaging teachers in the College of Arcane Arts. Her classes fill up quickly. Dr. Vera Gemblossom was head of the College of Medical Education until her untimely death. She was grooming her mentor Bourdekin Windrivver to take over the position. If Bourdekin ever decides to return to Suzail, she will have a job waiting for her in the medical department.
