The Guardians
The Kingdom of Palovy and the Myrrod Tsardom were embroiled in a vicious war that culminated in the Battle of the Burning Pass, where on the border between the two nations, between two mountains, their armies clashed. Fires were set across the pass to protect Palovian archers from Myrrod cavalry, but they quickly got out of control. Thousands of men on both sides of the conflict died in the flames. Less than 200 soldiers survived the battle out of the 100,000 that fought. The two nations agreed after the battle to never war with each other again, in order to prevent such bloodshed in the future. To commemorate those who died in the battle, two towers were erected on either side of the pass. They were built in a combined effort of Palovian and Myrrod workers, using both architectural styles. The peace lasted until Southern Palovy rebelled, and became independent as the Kingdom of Stiga. The Myrrod Tsardom does not consider the truce established with the building of the Guardians to extend to this rebel kingdom, and so has began raiding past the Guardians once more.
Architecture
The towers were built using a unique blend of Palovian and Myrrod building techniques not found anywhere else in Durillia.
