Military Flier

In recent years the military of the Human region has been heavy-handed with their recruitment. Often times a town or settlement will become surrounded by the military shortly after the Military Fliers appear. The fliers state that any and all able bodied people are to join the ranks of the military. Some believe that due to the fast paced encircling of the location, that the military is likely nearby when the fliers are originally posted.   When the military leaves, only the young and the truly old are left behind; them, and the fliers.

Purpose

The purpose of the fliers are to inform the citizens that they have been drafted into the ranks of the military.

Historical Details

Background

The first time that this type of document was used, was during the war with the Orcs. Many soldiers were needed to strengthen the ranks of the military and ensure victory over the Orc tribes.   The current use of the document is similar, but holds much more fear to the common citizen. The Human region is not fighting random tribes of Orcs anymore, they are defending their lands against the invading Ogres; an act that will most often lead to death.

History

Through the use of the flier the Humans were able to overwhelm and defeat the Orc tribes in the past. Now, against the Ogres, the flier acts as a means to gather a wall of flesh to deter the advances of the Ogres. Often settlements and even cities are drained of any and all potential defenders as a last ditch effort to retain the surrounding region; as these locations are soon after overrun by the invading Ogre armies.

Public Reaction

Often the sight of the Military fliers brings fear and panic to the people of the settlement; which is quickly quelled by the military troops that soon after move in to gather up the new recruits.

Legacy

The citizens of the nation would revolt against the military and the king, if they were able to do so. Though the nation lives in prosperity during the years when the flier is unnecessary, those that live through the years of its use will hate their government's forceful actions and will often teach the next generations not to trust the actions of their leadership. Several generations must pass before the citizens no longer seek retaliation.

Term

The fliers are used only during times when the military forces require immediate strengthening.
