Etabo

Etabo, first discovered in the nation of Sube, are large amphibious creatures which are easily trained and highly food driven. Adult Etabo grow to be around ten feet tall when on land with about half of their height coming from their six legs. Their color is a bit varied from one to the other but their rough hide is generally a shade of brown with different speckle patterns. These multi ton creatures are often directed by a very literal carrot and stick method.    Historically they were used to pull new ships into the harbor and to remove disabled ships repositioning them on land. Technology has made this function obsolete. Presently they are used to drag collection nets through harbors, collecting either fish or pollution, and for tourist activities. Left to themselves they naturally purify and dredge bodies of water by way of their feeding patterns.    Most physically notable about the animals is their capacity to elongate or shorten their legs depending on the terrain. When in the water from above they appear to swim but in reality they are entirely unable to do so. Instead their feet stretch as long as fifty feet in order to rest firmly on the sea floor. This enables them to walk as if they were on land and contributes to the pulling force they have in deep waters. When scouring the water for food they will shorten their legs in order to become fully submerged. This is how they are able to feed off of various plants growing on the sea floor.    The ethics of retaining one for service are heavily contested. Many argue that the animals are far too intelligent to be in captivity. The practice is also challenged because it is impossible to grant the animals enough grazing space given that they cover roughly 100,000 acres in the wild.
