Día

As the Día sang their songs and played their music, their rhythms and melodies took shape. Each new movement brought new dimension to the material world, and as they gave their passions and dreams sound, our world came into being. Even and they sang and played, the first born of our races took shape and awoke under the stars.

-- Schaela, Lady of Gealach

Civilization and Culture

History

The Día were born of the One Before. Their music gave shape to Doriand itself, as well as all magical and natural aspects that reside there. Once there music was completed, they took rest and looked upon what they had wrought. Mostly happy and proud of what they mad made, they abdicated their control over the world, allowing it to evolve largely as it would.   After Akhron, Gloir na Maidin, went into the world sowing discord and leading the races astray, did they come to the world to restrain and remove him. But realizing that his chaos had already been sown, they then created avatars to enter the world and act on their behalf. They also created the angels to continue a less potent music to channel and influence the world on their behalf. Then, again, they stepped back from the world to leave it's growth primarily in the hands of the races of Doriand with the guidance of their avatars.

Common Myths and Legends

For most people of Doriand, they see the avatars as the gods and creators of Doriand. The clerics pray to these avatars and do works in their names.   Each race and ethnicity understands this divine structure in their own way based on their histories and interactions with the avatars that they have worked with and through.   Through the ages, the Día have passed out of most knowledge. Only the most deeply spiritual and educated know anything of the Día, and there is no direct evidence of them, as the first ones were but children when the Día briefly walked the lands of Doriand. Most belief structures hold the avatars to be the true gods, and as each is formed out of their own histories and exposure, there are wide variations among the lands. Even when cultures revere the same avatars, their interpretations fo those avatars is not necessarily the same.
