Doriand
12th Day of The Falling, 826 TR
The world of Doriand has yet to discover itself. This setting is an experiment for our group to build and flesh out as we go.
The world will start with only a basic map, a basic mythos, and only one city. Outside of that, we will shape the world through our gameplay sessions. With members rotating through the role of DM, everybody will have the chance to shape the world both as a PC and a game runner.
The world is broken into two main continents. Talún, the large eastern continent is the most heavily populated and settled. Yargúlta, the smaller southwestern continent is settled and populated, though not as civilized or advanced. Several smaller landmasses dot the ocean, home to stranger creatures and cultures than are commonly seen on either of the mainlands.
Some stories will be part of larger arcs, many will be one-shots. Vignette adventures will take place through time and across the continents of Doriand. Hopefully, each gameplay session will not only be its own story, but will contain snippets and hooks that hint at the greater history and existence of Doriand. Some of these threads will be picked up and expanded on in future sessions, others will remain little bits of lore to be wondered at.
Some characters (PCs and NPCs alike) will make recurring appearances, others will arrive and die in one telling, either in glory or ignominy. As we rotate DM responsibilities, each new DM will add his or her personal flavor to the world. We will strive to create a variety of adventures focusing on different aspects of gameplay and storytelling, and perhaps begin to apply constraints to foster creativity.
As for how it all unfolds? We'll just have to see...
