The current leader of The Wasteling Bones, Merik is a brutal, might-makes-right leader, who although he has only recently risen to power has made waves in Doreymos with the blinding speed with which he has been uniting the tribes, through a mix of diplomacy, fear, and conquest. While reportedly not beyond reason, he is a difficult man to reach, and his motives are as of yet unknown. However, it may be easily assumed he doesn't want to bring peace to all of Doreymos.
