Promise

The Promise is the name given to the article of clothing crafted during a wedding officiated by a worshipper of Meloch. It often comes in a pair, one for each of the couple. It can also come in more than just a pair, in the case of a polyamorous marriage, but its function remains the same.
The Promise can come in many forms; often, it is a ring, but some people opt to craft a shawl or a headband or a necklace instead. Whichever form the married choose, it is then imbued with potent magic that forever links the wedded together. Its purpose is simple: whomsoever bears any part of a Promise will always be aware of the physical location of the other bearers of the linked Promise, even if that person were to die and reincarnate. Indeed, the Promise is so powerfully magical that it can teleport from one Husk to another, following the Soul of the departed rather than their physical body.
Often, couples get their Promise changed and improved over time. For instance, some choose to add gold or even Orichalcum to it once they reach a certain number of years married together, or a certain amount of reincarnations lived together. While the Melochian church has assigned meanings to certain materials, often, this choice is very personal, meant to be recognised by the couple only. They sometimes choose to weave personal items into the Promise in order to represent this.
