Magic in Domhan

Magic is divided into four types on Domhan: arcane, primal, divine, and oneiric.   Arcane magic plucks a part of the Expanse in order to create effects.   Primal magic calls upon Domhan itself; upon its latent energy within.   Divine magic calls upon the Veikas themselves - or, more rarely, upon Ako, who is very particular about the people it grants its power to. When a divine spell is cast, an infinitesimal part of a Veika's power is bestowed upon the caster, who then manipulates it into the desired effect.   The fourth type, oneiric magic, is poorly understood. It is a well known fact that some people seem to draw their power from mysterious dreams, supposedly not sent by Nyoka, though some believe they are. There they are contacted by formless entities, which are apparently able to grant them magical power. This form of magic concerns some, but in a world wracked by war, most are happy to have such strange and poorly-understood assets on their side.   Note that spells themselves do not belong to these four types; only casters do. Therefore, arcane casters could know a few spells that divine casters can also cast. The only thing that changes is how they use their power to bring about their chosen effect.

[DnD 5e] Types per class

Artificers, Bard, Sorcerers and Wizards are arcane casters. Eldritch Knight Fighters and Arcane Trickster Rogues are also arcane casters.   Druids and Rangers are primal casters.   Clerics, Paladins, and Celestial Warlocks are divine casters.   Non-Celestial Warlocks are oneiric casters.   The various magical schools - Evocation, Necromancy, Abjuration, etc. - still exist, and are refered to as Schools.
