Doranists

Doranist is a loose term that encompasses all those within the Domerian government and military loyal to Doran Regnar. Be they legitimate supporters or mere beneficiaries from this policies, the Doranists are the dominant political force within Domeris, competing with the royalists for complete control over the country. While less influential in government ministries compared to the royalists, the Doranists hold unrivaled influence within the Armed Forces of Domeris. Dark red and black is the customary color of the Doranists.

Structure

The Doranists have no direct structure, merely an informal hierarchy determined through constant jockeying for power and influence. At the top sits Doran Regnar, and just below him are his six regional generals. The military chain of command acts as an informal structure for the Doranists, and outsiders looking to ingratiate themselves within their ranks most often do so by bribing the correct people in exchange for an officers rank. Though surprisingly raw wealth only takes one so far up the chain. Doran cares little for material wealth, and attempts to bribe him can end in many different ways. As Doran is just as likely to appreciate the audacity of the act as he is to order the execution of whoever is making the attempt. This has had the effect of filling out the lower ranks of the officer corps with people of mediocre talent at best, but Doran Regnar is confident that the fires of war will kill off the incompetents in short order when the time comes.

Culture

The Doranists are split into three principal groups, though they all share a few things in common. The first is a distinct appreciation for the application of raw power, the ability to force others to follow their orders. Power is everything, and those who possess it can use it as they see fit. The second is a dislike for patrimonialism, and inherited status. It is important to note that this does not imply a distaste for inherited wealth, but rather applies to inherited titles of nobility and the privileges granted by them. A large portion of the Doranists are compromised of new money, people who had their ascent up the social ladder halted in the Domeris of old due to being born commoners. The third and final commonality is a type of militaristic dedication to Domeris, the belief that the armed forces should take a primary role in the governance of the nation. Hatred of the United Republics of Lorand is also an important factor in this militaristic zeal, as it originates from a belief that the common Domerian soldier was stabbed in the back by petty aristocrats who had their rank handed to them by their birth, and who refused to embrace the fires of industry to fuel the Domerian war machine.
