Violium

Violium is a precious metal that helps keep Crelia afloat.

Properties

Violium, when polished, has a faint purple finish. Things made with violium are built to last, as the material is rather strong. It's not very lustrous, but if processed meticulously, some craftsmen are able to give is a slightly reflective sheen. Violium is also surprisingly light, making it a great tool for - well - tools. Violium is very commonly seen in expensive small trinkets, designer tools, and high-end armor.

Rarity

Violium is quite rare. The most common place to find it is inside the Aulin caves. That being said, most of Crelia's rich cave systems hold undiscovered violium veins. Violium is very scarcely located in other parts of Distotia, but Crelia is the only kingdom that has been able to reliably harvest it. This trend can be seen by the travelers of Distotia. The closer people travel to Crelia, the more violium is visible.   Crelia holds this on their sleeves. All of their high-ranking military commanders wear giant suits of armor with violium highlights. Crelia pushes the narrative that violium is the "endgame" armor. The want the entire world to hunger for it, so they often host great displays of military strength in order to draw attention.

Use

Violium is most frequently used for the manufacturing of tools. People who buy violium tools are often masters of their particular craft. These tools are the last ones that they need to buy. No existing military group has an army armed with exclusively violium weapons. That being said, most high ranking military officials are armed with some form of violium, be it armor or weaponry.   Violium armor is rarely made, as it is a very inefficient use of the mineral. When it is made, the violium acts as an accent, rather than being the primary piece of metal used. These accents, when placed strategically, not only display wealth and power, but also help support the integrity of the armor.
