High Spellcasters
Distotia loves labels, and this label helps everyone identify who the best spellcasters in the world are.
Competition
There are only 10 high spellcasters. They are the 10 "best" spellcasters, as declared by the Kingdom of Aluvan. This label is universally recognized, and it comes with its fair share of perks and a great deal of respect. Because of this, there are constantly new contenders who fight for the rank of "high spellcaster." In order to earn the title, a spellcaster must demonstrate their powers in a public setting, usually for some greater cause. A good example of this would be The Candle Flinger, who earned their title when they saved Crelia from an angry storm giant. There is a committee in Aluvan that meets after each grand display in order to assess whether or not it meets the "high spellcasting" standard. The limited spots for high spellcasters does mean that some people get their rank revoked. This must happen every time someone new becomes a high spellcaster. It always incites outrage, especially within the communities where the previous spellcaster lived. The committee doesn't mind this, as they see the status as a great incentive for people to rise to heroic occasions.Perks
Being a high spellcaster grants a celebrity status. Where ever the spellcasters go, they are met with royal accommodations, as the kingdoms would like to leave a good impression on them. Everybody wants to side with the high spellcasters, making arguments between two high spellcasters very tense for the parties involved. High spellcasters are also commemorated in Fastelan's hall of heroes. Some kingdoms have hirelings and servants specifically hired to accommodate high spellcasters. Anything to convenience these beings of great power is worth it to them. Again, crossing a high spellcaster could be deadly.Conflict
Occasionally, someone will be removed from the board of high spellcasters and be so angry that they incite fighting. This has happened multiple times, with powerful wizards and sorcerers facing off against each other for the rank. Whichever side of the debate has more spellcasters typically wins. It's as simple as that. There was also controversy with the ban of warlocks from the title. A couple famous spellcasters were revealed to be warlocks while they still had the title. When they got the title removed for their affiliation with dark powers, there was a lot of heated conflict among the wider Distotian population.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
