The Whispering Woods

"The Whispering Woods" is a fairly grim fairy tale that derived from The Religious Freedom period in the 1500s, the early founding years of Disonia. It was created by The Beginners and had been ingrained in Disonian culture after several passings of this tale.

Summary

Nobody knew where the strange music came from. The enchanting music had attracted the attention of several members of The Beginners and soon, Soren Paines was notified. The floating melody was originating from the thick forest, a place no one had dared to go near unless allowed to. This was a barren island and it was still unknown if there were other inhabitants of the so-called Julio.   In response to the concerning tune, Soren had instructed Kane Amesworth to investigate and in return, he'd be rewarded. The reward wasn't specified yet, but Kane had trusted Soren enough to complete the task. Armed with a wooden knife he had craved himself, he ventured out into the woods.   As he twisted and turned through the trees, he couldn't help but feel anxious. Paranoia crept up along his spine as the wind blew the music throughout the woods, causing a whisper-like effect. He tried advancing toward the sounds, but he seemed to be going backward. As if he was returning the way that he had first come from. This was impossible for he had gone in the straightest line that he could towards the noise. And yet, the source had appeared to be getting further and further away as he advanced.
Strangely, it felt like he was traveling in a circle, each step bringing him back to his starting point.
