Fourfang Gylle

The Fourfang Gylle, also known as the Roisvell, is a breed of domesticated heterodont Dracosaur (Gylle). Of Lutrian provenance, the Fourfang traces its lineage to the most ancient breeds of Laukene war-runner used by the Eyternium's Immortals in the Prophetic Age.    The Roisvell is esteemed for its strength and stature, its exceptional plumage, and the outward-projecting 'canine' front teeth for which it receives its name.

Origin

The lineage and breeding methods of the Fourfang have been jealously-guarded secrets kept by the Lutrian House of Roisvell (the family from which the breed gets its name) until 1907. In a landmark disclosure, the Roisvells revealed that the first gylle to possess the projecting teeth was born 'by accident' in 1226 as a result of a cross between a Lutrian Broadjaw and a Sithenian Leopart that the family had brought from Edmenei.  The Earl Desuvet Aniu of Roisvell (1189 - 1258) had originally intended the gylles to possess hardier front teeth to improve the seizing and tearing apart of mobile prey, thus distinguishing them from the stock Lutrian Broadjaw, which typically struggled with such attacks.   Kertet Jaderiu of Roisvell (1305 - 1376) sold seven Guilles and fifteen Hennes of the original fourfang lineage to the Sideri Order of Tempskasser in exchange for their continued protection. The Tempskasser Cavalry made use of the Roisvell as their primary medium mount until the Order's disbandment in 1515 by Dejnus VI.
