THE RED PATH HAS STRUCK, TORANIKA IN RUINS, GREY DRAGON CARVES PATH OF DESTRUCTION, ANGEL SAVES THOUSANDS

News comes rushing out of Toranika following the night of Alturiak 15/16. The organization known as the Red Path, led by the Tiefling Akmen Carrion, have finally acted after an immense explosion was set off in Yarina's Plaza in the midst of thousands of protesters. The situation quickly turned violent as citizens backed by Trikaran "volunteers" stormed through the city. Large portions of the Toranikan military threw down their flags and joined their fellow citizens in bringing down the tyrant, King Harold Toran. Both the national forces and the County Regiments of Houses Derks, Sarvel, Tarquel, Toran and Vellis were compromised in the insurrection, crippling the entire western half of the country's military. Between seven to ten explosions claimed to be measured at over 100 feet in diameter, detonated at the same time in a colossal first strike by the Toranikan military. Quickly following the surprise attack against the Red Path, rebels seized the Toranikan Prison, former Inquisitorial quarters and laid siege to the Great Cathedral and Mages' Tower.   Following the quick action of Toranikan forces, the Prison was secured, the garrison trapped inside rescued and even more prisoners stopped from reinforcing the Red Path. However, disaster struck as an unknown third force rampaged through the Mages' Tower eliminating hundreds of defenders. The barrier surrounding the city was shattered and a massive army of Mergorians was spontaneously teleported all throughout the city. Horrid monsters joined the attack with these mysterious barbarians from the other side of the world. Massive wolves, Bugbears, Undead Centaurs, crazed Hill Giants and insane Fey spawn are said to have roamed the streets butchering Pathist and Toran alike. A timely intervention at the Great Cathedral saved it from being overwhelmed by Pathist forces and gathered forces to move south and link up with King Harold's forces in the south side of the city.   But no! Just as the force was about to set off a mechanical construct claiming itself to be "The Lord of the Riots" appeared from underneath the Great Cathedral, with one of Heironeous's Bolts in hand, a dangerous and powerful artifact of ultimate destruction. Tossing, what the construct claimed to be now useless weaponry into the air, it animated more than half of the largest cathedral in Stazun into a massive towering golem of stone and brick. The enraged Warden Exarch crashed a magnificent bolt of holy damnation cutting an Ogre sized hole into the golem. It tumbled backward colliding with the remains of the Great Cathedral, killing hundreds of civilians who had sheltered within its sacred walls.   The force of Toranikans and Wardens set off to the Plaza to deal with this Lord of Riots. Picking up small groups of soldiers along the way, they advanced, surrounded and interrupted a ritual performed by Riots. Battling the forces vanguard force surrounding Riots, the Toranikans managed to deal a fatal blow to the mechanical.       What exactly happened next is unknown, the handful of surviving soldiers tell of a vast cloud of smoke that filled the Plaza, immediately following it came a horrific roar with a TITANIC GREY DRAGON appearing and laying waste to the city. Mere moments following, a bolt is silver lightning struck through the sky, and the Herald of the Arch-Paladin, Archon Akriel, sprang forth to halt the Dragon. Their battle was legend across the sky as spear struck against claw; radiant vengeance against Dragon's Thunder. In the end the Angel was able to chase the Dragon away from the city out into the endless depths of the Vulaxan Plains.   The capital city now lays in ruins, the death toll is numbered at over 60,000 and rising by the day. More than half of the city has sustained some level of damage, with entire neighborhoods seemingly disappeared into thin air. A grim air of fear and concern holds the people in its hand, as these same people will have to face the Great Devourer's horde when the grass turns green in but a few months time.
