Hextor

Scourge of Battle Hextor

Hextor "Scourge of Battle": God of War, Strength, Destruction and Tyranny. He is the older twin brother of Heironeous. His alignment is Lawful Evil, though that is all based on whose perspective it is viewed by. His followers come in all shades from Lawful Good to Lawful Evil to Neutral. His creed is a simple one, only the strongest shall rule the people with a guiding hand. His main influence in the world is based out of the Stazunian nation of Karsder, with his religious order there being called the Red Scourges. Like his brother Hextor has followers across the world, several River Kingdoms worship him, namely Curno, Oakragon and Varang. His influence is second only to Gruumsh in Mergor and the Vulaxan Plains with dozens of tribes and warbands shouting his warcries in battle. While Erythnul is the primary deity of the Limavans, Hextor has pull over the far western states.Long ago Hextor's view of rule by strength and might were decried as "cruel" by his brother Heironeous, but his followers merely state that the strong shall always rule, so why stop what is simply natural.

Tenets of Faith

The church of Hextor teaches that the world is a harsh, unforgiving place. The strong rule the weak, and power is the only reward worth having. Cruelty and mercilessness are necessary tools. Order must be forged from Chaos and law from anarchy, but order is meaningless without the will to enforce it. Tyrants are to be obeyed, and dissenters are to be oppressed or killed. Slaves must obey their masters.

Holidays

Blooding: During the week of Growfest, Hextorians exhibit their strength, fitness, and martial prowess, sacrificing the lives of war prisoners to feed their god. Others cut themselves, offering their own blood to Hextor.   Discordsmight: celebrated on the 26th of Uktar, commemorates the struggle between the Hextorians and the followers of Heironeous. The church of Hextor teaches that this was a glorious victory in which the faithful pushed their boundaries all the way to the King's Pass Mountains. Worshipers of Heironeous, however, celebrate a parallel holiday of Valormight on the same day, where they celebrate the fact that the Hextorians were unable to push past that Pass as a great victory for the forces of Good.   The Fist of Eternal Malachite: Celebrated on Midwinter's Day, this holiday commemorates the battles that helped Hextorians gain ascendancy during the Turmoil Between Crowns. In lands other than the former Great Kingdom, this day is a remembrance of battles fought in the name of the local ruler.
