Fyron

Structure

Traditionally, Fyron was a very large country divided into "Ers" which are usually considered distinct nations due to varying dialects and customs, and the fourteen families administering the duchies also participated in governing the whole of the Kingdom with the Royal Family. The title of King or Queen was given to the eldest child whether male or female.   However, the coup orchestrated by the Agor Valde twenty years ago following King Andrion Falloren's failed attempt at dislodging the order from the country resulted in Fyron being reorganized into a strong centralized government with the ex-duchies ruled by governors acting as proxies for the Irion herself.

Culture

Over the millennia, Fyron has been the birthplace of many great civilizations and organizations, and this all served to form the culture of Fyron as it is today. Due to its size, it is important to note that there are many sub-cultures of Fyron that do share defining characteristics.

Fyronian Culture and Vaelior

As with all civilizations, the culture of Fyron is heavily influenced by religion. Insidar in particular being the birthplace of Vaelian religions, Fyronian culture is heavily tied to Vaelior. While the adhesion to and interpretation of Vaelior may fluctuate somewhat from region to region, its values and core tenets permeate Fyronian culture.

Values

Due to the prevalence of Vaelior as the religion of the State, Fyronians, in general, believe in justice, honour and courage. A Fyronian always pays his or her debts, and the result is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, a happy Fyronian is one who will make it a point of honour to be dependable and to answer a kindness with a kindness of their own. On the other hand, a slighted Fyronian will have no issue dealing out retribution of the exact same magnitude as the slight as to even the scales. Fyronians also tend to be averse to lying outright, which in itself can be double-edged as they do not typically have any qualms about omitting information by bending the truth. They also tend to prize courage and snob cowardice. Finally, they have a strong sense of loyalty to their family be it adopted or blood, but unless they live in a small community, the family cells tend to be individualistic.   The values of Fyronians is also where one can find the culture's weaknesses. The typical Fyronian is fairly predictable in behaviour: due to their cultures and values, one can generally expect to be treated by Fyronians in the way they have treated the Fyronians themselves. This makes it easy for foreigners to avoid retribution, as all they need to do is not be caught, or plan in consequence. Fyronians' habit of seeking retribution also makes them prone to feuding, unless there happens to be a strong local secular or non-secular government with a court set up to settle disputes. Naive Fyronians will also assume that others will be dishonest via omission of information rather than lying outright, and their first instinct will, therefore, be to assume that others are telling the truth.

Customs

The typical greeting of Fyronians will typically be a shallow bow with the right hand over the heart and the saying "Ward". The depth of the bow will typically signify the respect the individual has for the person they are bowing to. They also typically adhere to the Vaelior rites of morning cleansing and evening moving prayer to Vaelddra, with the added moving prayer at Falsenight. Less religious Fyronians will typically forgo the moving prayer at Falsenight, opting to quickly mutter a prayer. They typically go to religious services on the first day of the week, Vaelkir.

Assets

Adstrumite and metal ore from mines in the Apers mountains, wood from the northern fiefs, grain and other agricultural produce from the lower fiefs, a network of land Rifts for quick communication and transport, control of major Rifts going to Ejian and Natanan, largest fleet on the Eastern side of the Erguelach.

Demography and Population

There are currently 75.6 million people on Fyronian soil (a bit more than the Roman Empire at its height and about 2.5 the current population of Canada) living on a landmass around the size of China. Birth rate exceeds the death rate.

Territories

Territory spans from the northernmost side of the Apers mountainrange to the Norgowald sea in the east, and the Falmier and Iören seas in the south. Before its conquest by the Agor Valde, Fyron was divided into eighteen Esa:   1. Yers Falmoren (Kings’ land): administered by the Falloren line   2. Ers Andel (Anders): administered by the Anderan line   3. Ers Darand: administered by the Darand line   4. Ers Sidurand: administered by the Rayson line   5. Ers Agoran: administered by the Agoren line   6. Ers Logandel: administered by the Logain line   7. Ers Zukore: administered by the Streing line   8. Ers Almier: administered by the Almion line   9. Ers Valers: administered by the Valers line   10. Ers Kirra: administered by the Kirrian line   11. Ers Walden: administered by the Walden line   12. Ers Birdess: administered by the Birdess line   13. Ers Logue: administered by the Ioiphant line   14. Ers Apen: administered by the Soal-Iphan line   15. Ers Ren: administered by the Eldoren line (eastern branch of the family)   16. Ers Eldra: administered by the Eldoren line (western branch of the family)   17. Ers Johion: administered by the Starcatch line   18. Ers Galwyn: administered by the Swift line

Allied with some nations on Ejian and therefore benefit from advanced Ejianese technology.

Religion

Vaellior has had a very high influence on Fyronian culture, as it has permeated both Fyronian customs and mindsets. For example, Fyronian culture is very set on honour, justice and martial prowess, which is a product from following the Vaëlian religion.   The arrival of the Agor Valde changed thing up a bit by radicalizing a lot of the traits that Vaellior promoted. For instance, it instaured a rigid military hierarchy and rigourous societal guidelines.

1 gold crown = 25 silver kingheads = 1,250 bronze barons (1 kinghead = 50 nobles) = 125,000 copper nobles (1 baron = 100 nobles). In Fyron, most transactions occur in nobles or in barons, nobles having the value of small change. Half and quarter currencies also exist: as such, there are half and quarter-crowns, worth 62,500 and 31,250 nobles, respectively; half- and quarter-kingheads, worth 5,000 and 2,500 nobles, respectively; an half- and quarter barons, worth 50 and 25 nobles, respectively.
Legislative Body
The Agor Valde (Order of Vaëlddra) currently rules Fyron, and comprises of the ruler, the Esronn Vaelde (Voice/Speaker of Vaëlddra, colloquially known as the Voice), and the Agor High Council on which sit the Agorion. They make all policies.
Judicial Body
Composed of the Iörion, who is usually a high-ranked priestress of Vaëlddra, and the Iörion's group of inquisitors, the Iörian (the distinction being that the suffix -rion implies a higher rank than the suffix -rian). Since justice is blind, the judicial body is required to listen to testimonies and judge crimes wearing blindfolds or the traditional eyeless masks. The ruler is a representation of the Goddess according to traditional Fyronian views and the views of the Agor Valde both, and so the ruling monarch is able to contradict the ruling of the inquisition.
