The Jin People

The Jin peoples are an agglomeration of people united by a common language, a common writing system, and a common identification as the peoples of the Jin Empire. Going further back, to the Spring and Autumn periods, the Jin people are united by their common cultural identity, as children of the first son of heaven, who united or conquered the tribes around the Hu delta.   While the origin of the Jin identity started around the Hu delta and spread along the Hu river and its basin, it has now spread throughout the empire through more than two centuries of peace and prosperity, with many of the surrounding adopting its custom and its language.   There was no term for this common Jin identity yet, as they simply considered themselves as the civilized peoples. There was more of a local identification with their local lords and realm. As the Jin empire directly united all of the peoples of the common culture and brought with them stability and prosperity, the peoples have started to identify themselves collectively as the Jin people.
