Anomaly 16 - The Flesh Gardens

Date of Discovery: 4/9/1989.

Located in the ruins of Atlanta, Georgia, this strange formation was discovered by Agent ██████ and Dr. ███████. The ruins of Atlanta are currently cordoned off and quarantined. Coalition soldiers stationed inside Anomaly 16 have orders to monitor conditions within the cordon, and are to use lethal force on anyone-or anything-attempting to enter or leave the cordon zone.

Okay. So. I've been reassigned to the research team working on Object 16. The Flesh Gardens. Eugh, just the idea gives me the heebie jeebies. Cursory investigations have stated that the...the flesh has replaced all organic matter in the area. This includes trees, grass, and any other plants. Along with soil. Artificial structures, the skyscrapers and all of that, are still intact, however they have flesh "vines" growing all over them.
I'm not looking forward to this assignment.

Alright. I'm here. Inside the cordon. This place is just as gross as I imagined. The damn flesh sticks to my shoes. I'm walking to the forward operating site. I'll continue this log when I get there.
Alright, an hour and a half of walking later, I'm here. Thankfully the meatheads didn't lose my equipment. I'm having some of the Junior Researchers set up the seismographs and depth meters. A few others are taking samples of the "topsoil"....top.....flesh. Eugh.

Okay. Our base surveys have returned more than we expected. This biomass extends at least 70 miles down into the earth. Thats below the crust, obviously. It shows no signs of expansion either, and appears to be completely inert. We used some prototype ground imaging tech to see if there was anything else down there. Organs, chasms or something. Theres nothing. Just a solid block of what the Junior Researchers have confirmed to be Human Flesh. 
It might just be me, but I don't trust it. I feel as if there's something down there. Waiting for us.

Addendum-9/26/1993.
We've discovered a few organisms within the Quarantine zone. Seems to be typical animals native to urban landscapes(Squirrels, cats, dogs, raccoons) "corrupted" by the 016's flesh. Upon capture and termination of these entities, autopsies were preformed. All captured creatures are nothing but skin and flesh all the way through. There are no internal organs, no brain, heart, or eyes. Researchers currently dont fuckin know are currently unaware how the organisms retain any functionality.
