DLM-73

Geography

DLM-73 is a relatively uninteresting system. Its red giant star hosts two small terrestrial planets that seemingly hug its surface and a single gas giant that orbits at a fantastically large distance away.

Natural Resources

Probes have observed that the inner-most planets host a number of heavy metals, though they are featured in clusters much to small to be of any practical value. The gas giant features a fairly typical composition of gases, with little of valuable gases needed for space travel. Because of this, colonization of the system, even mere mineral mining or gas extracting, would be a large money sink.
What few resources its planets have to offer in exchange for the time spent to extract them has been considered a waste.

Colonies and Graveyards

Despite warnings on excessive radiation on nearly all planetary bodies in the system, desperate colonists have flocked to the system. Receiving little support from Cirrlyr superpowers, these colonists had to go searching for a home alone.
The single major colony rests on a small moon, Eidolus, of the gas giant. The moon is tidally locked, allowing only small agricultural outposts to be established. The majority of its populations live upon dying ships that circle the moon.
Due to the massive output of radiation from the both the red giant and gas giant, many ships have faltered. Major system failures occurred. Some started with the air recyclers, causing thousands to suffocate. Others started with climate control or temperature regulators, causing many more to either freeze or cook to death. What resulted was a massive graveyard of ships and people in orbit around DLM-73.

Devoted Cartel

Among the refugees and desperate settlers that flock to DLM-73, many criminals have joined the colonization of the system. During their stay, these criminals have formed their own drug cartel, commonly called "Devoted." While many other cartels and criminal groups exist, the Devoted have proven themselves to be the most dangerous and the most extensive.
