We're leaving, finally, getting out of the mud and the stench of animals and old crops. I never believed I could be a city girl, but I guess that's just something I'll have to get used to! Mother's concerns are silly, like there would be anything here to miss any way. Father says this is the next big step for us Glowblossoms. Time to continue our path elsewhere, Shidon here we come!

I've never seen a sight so large. Coming over that hill and seeing Shidon for the first time was just breathtaking. Before we even entered I could hear and smell so much. Treats hanging on windowsills, kids running around the streets, musicians in the pubs, so much more than I've ever seen before. We just got into our new home, its smaller than before but it looks right out into the street! Food just in walking distance, and the air so alive with the noise of people! So much better than the frogs and crickets that snuck into my room every night. Father says this is just our first home and soon we will be able to find a bigger one even closer to the parks. Its like the stories in "Lights and Loves", look at me, a regular Annabelle Sortright. I'll have to ask Mother if we can find a book merchant, I'd so love to continue reading the series. I can't wait!

I can't read in the house anymore. Mother and Father just cause too much noise. Perhaps I'll find a park in the Artisan's ward, the Crag doesn't have any but I think as long as I don't stay out too late they won't notice how far I've gone.

I know that it was written with a younger reader in mind but I just finished my second read through, well of the books I have. I feel like the fact that I haven't been able to get my hands on the full series keeps me hanging on regardless of how old I get. Since Mother left I haven't wanted to disturb Father for money for the new ones, it just seems silly, should really focus on getting more money for food, breakfasts have been pretty gross, and I'd love to figure out how to expand our options.

This is so unfair. Father says we still can't go outside. It's the Life Festival! The entire district is over by the Inner walls for the parade, and Father still won't leave his room, forbidding me from leaving as well. Its been a whole week! HES SO UNFAIR! I even explained the perfect opportunity to sell my beads to all the townsfolk, maybe even get enough for some meat for dinner, it doesn't make any sense!

He gave me away, just like that, my father just told them to take me. Not a flicker of thought, not a word of goodbye, just pointed and asked if I'd cover the balance. I recognized their grey armbands from around the Crag; gangsters, murderers, and he just let me go. I didn't know what to do, I just froze, I couldn't shake it, just ended up sitting in that disgusting pub on a stool, not knowing what to think. I barely remember the next moments. A small figure, hood over her eyes, talked to the men around me, they dismissed her, but they couldn't even finish their sentence. I didn't even realize what was happening, crimson covered the bread in my hand and the men fell to the floor. She pulled me from the stool and walked me down the streets, I don't even remember which ones. Herma put her hood over me to hide the blood. She put me in new clothes, nicer than any I've seen before, and I slept in a bed next to a fire. Nothing has changed since then, we haven't spoken much, but she has been bringing me meals, most with meat.

I'm starting to get better with my hand techniques. It's still difficult but I was able to take an apple right from a woman's bag while on my delivery. The job was easy enough, just a drop off to the Bank, never have to go further than the old woman at the front so another easy day. I don't like being in the Crag anymore though, just too close to him. Herma left me some vegetables at my stoop, so perhaps some stew is in order with my leftover mutton.
20 Whisper, 3464
We finally began training today. I knew I'd whittle her down eventually, Herma was always concerned with giving me any combat training but after the raid on the fighting ring last night I think I was able to convey my seriousness with wanting to learn more. I think I'd like daggers to be honest, especially with my hands as fast as they've become.
9 Reyneth, 3465
I really think Herma is impressed. I was able to best one of her biggest recruits today in close combat! He never saw the other dagger, incredible! I'm pretty sure she even smiled. She told me to head back here but she would see me tonight for my final test. To be continued!

It's done, I brought my journal with me to revel in the moment in the place I have written so many entries before. Reece, you were a blight on this city and on my life. May Asmodeus keep you warm.

I never thought I'd open this again. That night closed so many chapters for me, figured I'd leave it all behind. I've learned so much since then. Reece may have been my eternal anchor to that point, but he finally had a gift to give. Of all the places to dig a grave, I chose that one. Tossing him in and seeing him glow like an emerald is something I'll never be able to unsee. His head turned and I nearly died of fright right at that moment, but that's when I found it, the source of his awakening, this tome, this wonderful tome, and all of its powers. So much I've been able to accomplish since then, so much still left to do. To be honest it's been some time since I wrote in something that didn't write back. It's nice to have company out here in the woods, regardless of the source. I write this in the bedroom of my new manor with the beauty I deserve all around me. Had to get out of the city, just too much noise.
