Káth Korneag
Káth Korneag is the capital of Stadescos. It was founded in the year 1025 by the two sisters that also founded the Velázquez Dynasty and the state of Stadescos. It is the ever expanding pinnacle of the trade and culture in Stadescos, set right by the shore of the ocean.
History
Káth Korneag was created as the capital of the newly founded state of Stadescos. The placement of the capital within the country was thought out very carefully. The area that was build first was the palace complex, back in the beginning not as grandous as now though. The palace complex included all necessary government and military buildings and was surrounded by a secure wall. Over the time, as more people moved to the capital, more and more neighborhoods were developed.
Today, the city consists of multiple neighborhoods, and most importantly, a big harbor and merchand area down by the ocean. In all the years of existence, Káth Korneag has never been conquered by an enemy force due to the thought out defenses.
Geography / Climate
Káth Korneag is located on a rather flat peace of land directly on the shore of the ocean. A river, with a few lakes and side arms is going through the city. The weather in the area is usually very warm and dry, even in the winter times. The islands that lie right offshore off the main land serve as a natural barrier to the city.
Districts
In the very east of the city, the defenses of the city are raised up on the islands in front of the shore of the main land. By putting the defenses apart from the city and having the narrow waterway in between the islands and the main land as an additional buffer, the city has always been able to ward off any attacks from the water.
Behind the defenses, there is a big harbor located on multiple shores off the river. Next to warehouses and market places, this part of the city also includes housing for the sailors and traders visiting the city and some entertainment establishments.
The harbor is followed in the west by the parts of the city where the lower families live and work, together with a district where the Clándhia that live in the city reside. The next part of the city to the west is inhabited by the middle families, followed by the houses and mansions of the higher families and nobility, before there is another line of defense surrounding the palace complex. Behind the complex, in the west of the city, the houses slowly become smaller again before there is another set of city walls to ward off attacks from the land side of the city. Most of the stores and businesses in the city are located in the middle family district. An exception are some luxury stores that only have establishments in the nobility part of the city.
The palace complex includes not only the palace and the houses of the highest nobility, but also the the military base, the Specialized Response Unit headquarters and several government buildings. Also, there is a library and an archive, which holds most of the knowledge in the city. In the palace complex is a famous statue that portrays the two founding members of the city, the country and the dynasty that rules it.
Demographics
In Stadescos it is allowed for Clándhia and also Pèokáme to live next to the native Dáotara citizens. So Káth Korneag has very diverse inhabitants, in species as well as in age. They do though go about their lives mainly in a seperated way and do not intermingle with each other if not absolutely necessary.
