Krypton

Homeworld of the Kryptonian race, named for the 36th Element of the Periodic Table.

Geography

An arctic world orbiting a red dwarf star, Krypton's environment ranges from Boreal Forests, Tundas, Oceans, Ice Sheets, and Glaciers.

History

The Guardians of the Universe chose Krypton as the test cite for Experiment-36. The first Kryptonians were created and tested on the planet before ultimately being considered a success. The Kryptonians were then vat grown en mass to serve as peace keepers for the Guardians of the Universe. Millions of Kryptonians were grown and with their incredible power and with little resistance quickly conquered large swaths of the galaxy. However over time the Kryptonians began to realize that they had outgrown their masters and rose up against the Guardians.
Vastly outnumbered the Guardians overwhelmed, after suffering heavy loses the Guardians were forced to retreat to their home world of Oa. The Kryptonians became their own masters and the Krypton became the center of a new Kryptonian Empire.
During the Green Lantern War, Krypton was laid siege by powerful Kryptonite weapons, only 10,000 Kryptonians escaped and the siege left Krypton a radioactive wasteland.
