Fuel and Power Sources

Eridium

Eridium, not to be confused with the metal iridium, is a new element found on the planet Pandora. The ore has some semblance of usage as a universal power source, however its method of production and full properties are unknown. While it seems to be almost like energy made solid, refined Eridium ore is formed into ingots.

Hydrogen Fuel Cells

Twin hydrogen fuel cells are used in the Series 850 Terminator. The twin cells provides each unit with greater power and longer life. Each cell is encased in a shiny titanium-carbon fiber alloy nearly featureless except for its power points.   Each cell is about the size of a small book and is encased in shiny, titanium-carbon fiber alloy, nearly featureless except for its power points. Housed within the main torso section of the combat chassis, the hydrogen fuel cells have a small easy-access panel that allows their removal for replacement or repair.   If a hydrogen fuel cell is ruptured in battle, it will become unstable and must be removed immediately, because the unstable ruptured cell is very dangerous. It will eventually explode like a miniature hydrogen bomb.

Iridium Power Cell

An Iridium Power Cell is the power source of a Series 8xx Terminator. The cell itself is inexhaustible, though it is unstable.

Nuclear Power Cell

The nuclear power cell (or nuclear-energy cell) could supply enough power to run the lights of a small city for a day and could allow a T-800 to operate at full power for twenty-four hours per day for 1,095 days. It could last significantly longer than this if the unit dropped off-line into economy mode. In this mode, power was cut to 40 percent of nominal function.   Compact energy sinks collected and stored excess energy for later use, optical systems switched to infra-red only and motivation units lost 40 percent of hydraulic pressure as the pumps slowed. Combat situations notwithstanding, the T-800 has a functional period of 120 years on one power cell.

Zero-loss Lithium-Ion Battery

The Weyland-Yutani Corporation's newest models of lithium-ion battery are composed of traditional lithium with rare metal cathodes and nano-layered silicon anodes. The Zero-loss LIBs have ultra-low internal resistance and zero memory loss and are commonly used in everything from Hypersleep Chamber backup systems on deep space missions to classroom HoloTabs in Mumbai. The zero-loss battery system can be deposited on a single-layer graphene substrate, making portable power essentially invisible.
