The Clockworks

Purpose / Function

The Clockworks function as a base of operations, black market, and home for the Augments, a group of pirates who have renounced their humanity, and accepted augmentation of their body through a mix of arcane and technological alterations. It also has a deep water port that can hold over one hundred ships.

Alterations

The clockworks is under constant alteration to facilitate the ever increasing practices of piracy in the Medrith Sea, and along the Spice Trade Routes.

Architecture

The Clockworks is approximately half on water, and half on land. It is surrounded by a dome of about seven dark bronze layers that can revolve and open, much like a gyro, to allow passage into and out of the base. Docks of opulent wood and brass float in the water between spaces for over one hundred ships. Great gears and cogs, the size of three story houses constantly rotate, some vertically, pushing into slots in the ground, and some horizontally, all powered by the geothermal energy from under the mountain that is the Golrenian High Citadel. Buildings of brass and exotic wood, 8 stories tall, span between these whirring gears. The gears themselves drive the industry of the base to produce almost all of its required produced goods, and the force required to change people into Augments.
