The Changebringer Myth in D&D | World Anvil

The Changebringer

The Changebringer (also known as the Evershifting God and the Twin God) is a draconic deity once worshiped by the Drakish Empire. They are typically depicted as an inextricable pair of dragons that, true to their nature, change the colour of their scales at will. They idealized balance and change.   The Changebringer was responsible for several orders during the Dragon Age, including The Masters, the Dragonknights and the emperors of Emberhold themselves.

Personality

The Changebringer had two independent personalities at any given time and these personalities would change periodically, and seemingly at random. Their more experienced acolytes were adept at reading cosmic omens to determine the deities mood and personality and used this knowledge to properly time their requests for aid and power.   The Changebringer's two personalities were most commonly mirrors of one another, and reflective of a chromatic and metallic dragon respectively. Several traits, common to all dragons, persisted throughout these personality shifts--the Changebringer remained ever prideful, fond of treasure and, although they were said to be deeply patient, the Changebringer is considered the most thoroughly wrathful of all true gods.

History

The Changebringer has been absent from the realms for centuries; remembered only by a scant few elves and also by the Dragonflights of the Bharazadian dragonborn who faithfully pass their stories down generation after generation.
