Arborea

The Celestial Plane of Chaotic Good

The Glades of Arborea, or simply Arborea, is a chaotic-good aligned plane of existence adjacent to Boda in the Astral Sea. It is the realm of the free spirit, unshackled by rules or structure. Nature is allowed to flourish in every possible way, and all manner of beings, creatures and vegetation are able to thrive in harmonious disorganization.   After the inadvertent creation of Cynos and the emergence of life, death and mortal beings, Arborea became the final destination for the souls of chaotic-good individuals. There, they are welcome to live in whatever manner they choose, for the ever-changing landscapes of Arborea will accommodate the needs all who reside there.

The Ever-expanding Glades

The chaotic nature of Boda frees her celestial domains from any need of structure or boundary. Without such limitations, Arborea is able to exist as an endless array of different biomes, environments and landscapes. Celestial beings known as Lunars oversee the vast Glades and welcome new souls to their final resting place, guiding them to the environment that would be the most pleasing to them. If ever a soul arrives to Arborea for whom there is no suitable environment, a new one is created for them, woven seamlessly into the fabric of Arborea as if it had been there all along.

Lunars

The attendants of Arborea are the Lunars, good-aligned celestial beings in the service of Boda who welcome new souls from Cynos into the afterlife. The Lunars are also prepared to defend Arborea if ever it should fall under attack, for despite their tranquil nature, Lunars are fierce and powerful combatants. Capable of shapeshifting, Lunars can take dozens of different forms, but nearly all choose those of animals or beasts. No matter their form, Lunars retain all of their powers and abilities, including speech, flight, and command of magic.

Lunar Paragons

The peaceful lands of Arborea require little governing, but all the same, authority over the Glades and the Lunars falls to the three Lunar Paragons. These exceptionally powerful beings answer to Boda herself, and their judgement is akin to hers. Each of the three Paragons oversees a different aspect of the natural environment, as follows:
  • Arvandor, Caretaker of the Land, who takes the form of a Unicorn.
  • Aquallor, Caretaker of the Seas, who takes the form of a Kraken.
  • Mithardir, Caretaker of the Skies, who takes the form of Platinum Dragon.
  • Post-Impact

For a time after Boda's death in 0 ADB, the task of assessing the morally ambiguous fell jointly to the Lunar Paragons and the Demon Lords. Though both chaotic in nature, the Lords and Paragons are dramatically different, and co-operation was nigh impossible. Before long, the task proved completely futile and had to be abandoned. Since that time, there has been no one to judge chaotic-aligned souls. The natural currents of the Astral Sea can still guide the good and the evil to Arborea and the Abyss, respectively, but chaotic-neutral souls are left floating aimlessly, trapped in a state of limbo for all eternity.
