If you consider mind controlling people for a living to be fun. You can easily identify who is the Evil Telepathic Dictator of Samarlina by the jacket they wear. Their jacket with be neon green, likely with black sparkly swirls on it. This jacket strikes fear and envy into the hearts of every Samarlinian.

To be Evil Telepathic Dictator, one must first be a pretty skilled Samarlinian. You must then prove you're the best of all telepaths by destroying the current ETD's mind in ritual combat. Then and only then will you become the new ETD.
Payment & Reimbursement
Evil Telepathic Dictators don't really get paid. Instead, they get a monthly allowance from the Samarlinian treasury to do whatever they need with, like buy food and stuff, and that's it. They do get a pretty cool house though!

Evil Telepathic Dictators have pretty much unlimited social influence as well as their own private army that they can command. This would be the Grey Jackets.

Even if you don't get destroyed the first few times, you'll still definitely feel the strain later on when everyone hates you and wants you to just die already.
