Mariscine Ocean

CUENDISH: GORDA MAR, DORIC: NU SAMU, MARISCINE: MARISEN OJÊN, VINDARI: IMAT AVANARIT

The Mariscine Ocean is an ocean to the west of Cuendar. The ocean's name is derrived from the Mariscine People, who arrived in Cuendar from across the ocean on the Day of Landfall . Many expeditions have been mounted to see what is on the other side of the ocean, but none have gotten farther than the Spice Isles.

Wildlife

The Mariscine Ocean is home to a wide array of marine animals. Fish species found in the Mariscine include anchovy, cod, mackerel, sardine, and tuna as well as cartilaginous fish like manta rays, whale sharks, and great white sharks. Mammals that live in the Mariscine include dolphins, dugongs, whales, otters, and sea lions. The Mariscine also hosts a variety of sea birds, including albatrosses, cormorants, gulls, pelicans, and puffins. These birds generally migrate from the central latitudes in the winter to the northern and southern latitudes in the summer.

Islands

Volcanic islands of the Mariscine Ocean include the Avanarit Isles to the north, the Near Isles to the west, and the Spice Isles even farther west. The Spice Isles in particular have considerably impacted mainland Cuendar, both by exiling the Mariscines before Landfall and by means of trade. Continental islands include the Lau Doru archipelago, ancestral home of the tortles, which is a maritime extension of the Sentinel Range and the Ombala Archipelago, whose climate ranges from tropical rainforests in the north to austral tundras in the south.

The Storm Wall

The Storm Wall is a storm that has raged to the west for as long as anyone can remember. The storm stretches for miles and is marked by heavy rain, tumultuous waves, and tempesuous winds. The exact cause of the storm is unknown, but it is postulated to be the work of some sort of god, perhaps the Divine Serpent itself. It is innavigable and impassable, thus its name.
