Zhang Jing
Zhang Jing, known as Jin among her friends, is the wife of Zhang Wei, who owns the Zhang Farmstead along the Retribution River. She was born on a farmstead, and has spent her entire life working the fields and tending to the livestock. As devout Daoists, she and her husband travel to the nearest temple at least once a week, sometimes more if their work permits it. During their visits to Crossroads Proper for supplies, they also usually make a stop to pray at the Yulü and Shenshu Temples.
She is the lady of the estate, and is a harder worker than Wei, handling just as much of the physical labor despite her diminutive stature. She is well respected in the area, and while Wei owns the farmstead, she's the one who keeps it running.
Jing is not a fan of change, and is suspicious about all the technological and agricultural advancements being made with Retribution Beast's. Her husband went against her wishes, and saved up enough money to purchase a Budding Cattle in an effort to give them a cheaper source of meat amidst the soaring food costs, as well as make more money for the farm. She laments this decision, believing that such an unnatural beast will bring nothing but misfortune to the farmstead. However, she loves Wei, and is allowing him to keep the beast for now.
Unlike her husband who is critical of the ever increasing grain taxes from the Daoists leadership, Jing never speaks ill of their religious leaders. She puts herself fully into the faith, and is among the most devout of their followers. As the tension among the various religions continue to rise, she always has something negative to say about the Orthodoxy, Catholics and Protestants.
