Greater Silkworm

Greater Silkworms are a deadly and aggressive Retribution Beast. They were one of the very first beasts discovered, when a group of Daoists were walking along the edge of the Retribution Wastes and happened to wander past a series of massive white cocoons. Upon inspection, the material they were made out of seemed to be similar to silk. At some point during their time inspecting these cocoons, the group was attacked by massive white worms, which could devour a man whole.   Most of the group was killed within seconds, but the few that survived made their way back to newly established Crossroads Proper. They spread the knowledge of these strange creatures, and a mercenary company was hired by the Daoists to investigate. All they found were the remains of the massive cocoons, which had been ripped open and left behind. There was no sign of the bodies of the people who died, and no tracks leading away from the area.   The mercenary group returned with the remains of the cocoons, where were given to the Daoists for inspection. They discovered that the cocoons were exact replicas of the cocoons made by the well known Silk Worm species. They used this information to begin harvesting a massive amount of silk from these new cocoons, and began hiring more mercenaries to collect the valuable silk.   With this discovered came the creation of something the Daoists called New Silk, and lead to the establishment of the New Silk Road. It created an industrial boom in the area, leading to the exponential growth of Crossroads Proper. Named the Greater Silkworm, it became a beacon for those journeying to the area, a sign that the Retribution Wastes and the beasts that reside within it might have the potential to be extremely profitable.
