Cathedral of Penitent Salvation

The grand spires of the Cathedral of Penitent Salvation loom above the skyline of Crossroads proper contested only by the Yulü and Shenshu Temples. The Cathedral sits by the river, having been in construction since the first Orthodox missionaries marched into the region, and now stands as the tallest building in Crossroads. Every Sunday, a thousand congregants gather for mass and confession, and every day another future penitent is baptized.

Purpose / Function

Being the largest testament to the Orthodox faith in the Crossroads region, it is the seat of power for the Orthodox Christians. Its corridors house the majority of the higher priests, and hide a well-armed barracks from which Orthodox warriors can recuperate and foray out from.
The majority of the Orthodox students attend school here, though the faith has proclaimed that any outside the faith who convert to Orthodoxy may be schooled there.
Parcels of grain shipped in from Russia or taxed from farmers are dispersed equitably to its congregants, and soup kitchens are maintained for the poorest from any faith.
Any of the faithful who fall ill can see a priest-doctor in the hospice wing, though those tied higher into the faith have priority, especially the leadership and warriors.

Architecture

The Cathedral is built of limestone mined from the surrounding region, gathered and shaped by dozens of fanatic masons and thousands of hired laborers, with funding from both the Orthodox church and aid from Russia itself. The great labor of the Orthodox faith and Russia's penitence. It is adorned with hundreds of frescoes lining its vaulted corridors.
There is one lower chamber that each congregant contributes to, once they are 15 or older. In a ritual, they ink a 1 inch square with their blood, to symbolize their penance for the folly of mankind.
