Etrian Aeric Forces
Sky forces that protect Etria... Or at least the emperor
The Etrian Aeric Forces are one of several armed forces that protect the emperor. Officially, the Aeric forces, like the other armies of Etria, are there to protect the entire population, however, those in the know will realise that this is not quite correct. Whilst the forces may protect the population as a whole at the order of the emperor, their real purpose is to protect the emperor and only the emperor. Protecting the emperor's subjects at the orders of the emperor is just considered to be a part of this.
Without orders from the emperor, the Aeric forces would have to leave the members of the general population to defend and fight for themselves. Other members of the emperor's family are assumed to need protecting unless ordered otherwise, and there have been occasions when the order to not help, or even to cause harm to, the royal family have been given, and these have been carried out as ordered.
The aeric forces deal with protecting from the air, using airships, gliders and wing gliders to do so. The forces also patrol the skies using these three methods, too.Structure
Marshal - the highest rank, belongs to those in command of the armed forces
Captain - pilots of airships, commanders of glider and wing glider forces.
Officer - members of airship crews
Sergeant - members of airship crews and users of lgliders and wing gliders
Airshipman - members of airship crews, the lowwest rank
Public Agenda
To protect the people of Etria. This is not the same as their private and actual agender, that of protecting the emperor.
History
The emperor formed the aeric forces in 1828 to provide himself with personal protection from the sky, believing that people may try to overthrow him by attacking from above.
