The Origin Stone is a large slab of granite engraved with Runic markings. There exist some simple enchantments on it to prevent weathering or other damage, but for the most part it is simply writing. The largest benefit conveyed by the stone is the explanations and insight into four runes written by the stone's creator. This information is unlike anything to have been created in the ages since, as normally Runes can only be truly understood after spending much time surrounded by what it represents and meditating on its true nature. The writings on the stone are the only existing method of learning Runes quickly. What normally takes years for one of the Cres can be achieved in weeks. And the stone does not only help teach the four runes it mentions specifically. The wisdom granted by it will reduce the time it takes readers to learn any other rune in the future, though not nearly as drastically as the first four.

Significance

The Stone is a written record of the origin of Cres . Containing detailed information of their unique biology, the circumstances of their birth, and the identity of their progenitor, this tablet serves as a guide for the entire specie's existence. In addition, the tablet provides deep insight into the nature of several specific runes, and of Runic itself. Someone with access to it is quickly provided with a strong foundation in Runic to build off of, drastically reducing the initial learning curve as well as speeding up all further progress in the language. It was meant to be a stepping stone for the Cres to build off of, and is what allowed the rapid progress of the of the species.
