The Academy

Purpose / Function

The Academy was the Runelords' seat of power. Built to house both students and faculty, as well as independent researchers, the Academy was the heart of Runic innovation and progress in the time before the Collapse. In addition to being used as a place of learning, experimentation, and research, the building served as the official government building for the Runelords, where they would hold council, conduct their meetings, and organize their influence on the different nations of the land.
During the Collapse, the Academy was systematically destroyed, and all the knowledge contained within burned or ruined. Now it is but a ruin, a forgotten memory from a time long passed. It has however found a new purpose. Many years after the Collapse and abandonment of the once-great building, it was discovered by a group of Kentri. Since then word has spread throughout their community, and the place has become a common meeting spot for their people . Once a year they now hold a gathering there to share news and celebrate, which has become an important part of their culture.

Architecture

The Academy was created almost entirely by magic, growing and folding flawless dark granite into shape. While impossible to tell from the ground, it was built in the shape of the rune for 'stone', a large 'V' with a dot in the middle. This was to allow the repairing and reinforcing of the entire building with magic if and when needed, as well as allowing the stone to reinforce itself naturally over time by absorbing energy from the environment. The dot was the main part of the building, being a massive tower reaching above the canopy of the forest it was located in. The 'V' was made of two fin like lengths that met at their highest point. These two fins were connected to the main tower building below ground.
