Wanderlands

The God Hand had both beneficial and catastrophic effects on the world around it. One such consequence was the Wanderlands.   It was always an arid area between the orcs and kingdom of men. Wolfsbane was one of the only habitable areas, which is what made it such a prized and strategic location to hold. The road to Wolfsbane was the only road in the area that otherwise bore nothing of note as far as the eye could see in each direction. The canyon with its lazy river was the only site to see in an otherwise desert environment.   The area lacked surface vegetation as the waterways that run beneath the Wanderlands run deep.  Finding them exposed is a rare, and popular, occurrence that is the result of much conflict as one might imagine.     Still, for many outlaws, escapees, and otherwise rough-necks, leaving the life of regulation, perhaps incarceration, and/or various forms of oversight was a life they preferred.  Law was determined by whoever had the most influence, or the largest proverbial stick.     When the God Hand made its appearance, the void it created beneath Creatos resulted in these waterways being rapidly depleted as the underground sea was born beneath Creatos.  Many of the once outposts were forsaken almost overnight. With no water, there could be no life.     What was left, however, was a series of tunnels from rivers and creeks that had gouged out all the loose sediment and could not break through the bedrock that now sustained the open pathways.    New entry points were discovered where particularly large bodies of water vacated and the ground could not support the void.  Cave-ins and sink holes were discovered and access to these pathways were established, and controlled.  New outposts were created by opportunists.     A new means of traversing the Wanderlands had been born, but it was not without its perils.  One could brave the relentless heat and baron landscape of the surface, or try their luck on the maze-like caverns that lie beneath where the denizens have learned to prey on things in the dark.     Choose wisely.
