The Golden Hero

Summary

The Golden Heroes charged towards the Shadow of All Things with blade raised high. They leapt onto the draconic titan's back, and into the great jaws of the beast! Dodging between the razor-sharp teeth of night, and plunged their sword deep within, to the dark steel core.
Before the great beast could crush them, they twisted their blade even deeper into the grievous wound, and calling upon golden power, pulled it out, a pull so mighty that the black metal was torn from the dragon. Not just from the dragon's mouth, but from all it's throat and massive belly.
The Shadow of All Things screamed in pain and cursed, not in a voice of sound but of silence so great and clear, the words were audible by the shape of their absence. The dark essence of the metallic innards was shattered, and they melted into pools of darkness, which for fear of the Golden Heroes, fled all over Creation.
They hid behind anything they could find, and over time, people forgot when they had come, and eventually, they just called them shadows. And they have been hiding from the sun ever since.

Historical Basis

The myth is rooted in a prehistoric battle by Solar Exalted against the Ebon Dragon before he was the Ebon Dragon, the battle in which the Shadow of All Things was changed for ever after.
There are some ancient murals and etchings in untouched First Age ruins, of the Shadow of All Things.

This is a common legend outside of the Blessed Isle, especially among the Cult of the Illuminated.

Variations & Mutation

The Golden Heroes are sometimes male, sometimes female. In place that trend closely to the Immaculate Philosophy, the Heroes are Dragon-Blooded.
