Five Magical Materials

The Magical Materials are a grouping of five minerals that, when appropriately worked, are particularly resonant with the Exalted. This resonance makes any item that is both constructed from one of the magical materials and attuned to an Exalt preternaturally deft and sure in that Exalt's hands, as well as significantly lighter, allowing for the considerably larger weapons of the Exalted.

Jade

The most common of the magical materials, jade resonates best with the Dragon-Blooded. There are five alloys of jade, each of which resonates slightly better with a Dragon-Blood of a specific Aspect. Green jade with Wood, blue jade with Air, black jade with Water, red jade with Fire, and white jade with Earth.
Jade is also the material that the Realm strikes currency from, and the basis of it's economy.

Orichalcum

Orichalcum is a pale yellow, gold-like material, although it is significantly harder and more durable than gold. Very rarely found, orichalcum only naturally occurs in places close to the heavens. Equipment and artifacts made from orichalcum are considered supernal to those of the other materials.

Moonsilver

One of the most overtly magical materials, moonsilver is traditional silver that has been transmuted by the application of Essence and the light of Luna. When not in use, it resembles silver, albeit with a mercurial sheen. It reshapes and changes form, and many artifacts made of moonsilver can take unassuming shapes until necessary. Immaculate philosophy teaches that certain powerful Anathema are attracted to the Essence of moonsilver, making it dangerous even for Dragon-Blooded.

Starmetal

Starmetal is the rarest of all the natural magical materials, and can only be found in meteors that fall from the heavens. The few individuals who claim to have seen them say that starmetal is barely distinguishable from high-grade steel. The number of starmetal artifacts within the possession of the Dragon-Blooded can be counted on one hand.

Soulsteel

Soulsteel is purported to be a false material, created by the Anathema of old from the Essence of the dead, and even in their time, a rarity. In the last five years, over three dozen Anathema have been sighted in Creation bearing quantities of soulsteel previously unheard of - some of which has been taken by the Wyld Hunt.
