The Petrified Tendril

Petrified from overexposure to light, a tendril of obsidian shadow hangs clipped to a twined piece of hemp that rests around the neck of a very adventurous draigi.   The Petrified Tendril is a solidified shard of shadow severed from the tip of an Olde One's arm. Decades ago when draigi first arrived to the Shattered Isle, one hero from the Sanctaidd line wielded the light of the Aurora like no other, and used it when their lands were first attacked by their alien influence.   Hardradi took the chiseled piece of shade and had it strung and enchanted- he believed imbuing himself with the powers of this enemy would provide him the knowledge and energy to continue his fight against it. Little did he know this influence was beyond his capability.   Cursed then, with endless visions of his own demise, when he grew old of age, he escaped his home to live far North. Populating with the Norden Draigi, he carried this curse through his bloodline, causing alarge populace of Norden to share the same burden to varying degrees. He left for endless battle, first of the Einherjar, years later, to escape these omens. Legends question whether he has found peace.   Today, the necklace has been passed down from son to daughter, from daughter to father, and so on. Cursed ever with visions of ravens warning of their demise, the Norden chieftains struggle to contain their fears, yet dig deeper to find the wisdom in their shared fates.   This necklace stands proud as a sign of defiance against the hopeless corruption of the Olde Ones.
The tendril's current owner, Uristra, recieved this necklace as a gift from her father Udanvir. The Kustpärla family line currently keeps the necklace safe, by passing it between houses to keep it unknown, however Uri's curse originates from steady exposure to the artifact. It's a topic of Controversy among her resident village. While nobody really knows who currently holds it, debate on whether to destroy or preserve the shard is a common conversation held between her peers. Destruction could very well release a plague on their people that none of them wish for.
