He had nowhere to go and no one to lean on. He started smoking when he was a teenager and, at the age of 16 he met young Herminia, a young girl who was very impatient and had a dream of becoming a Roller Derby Champion. She would go to the places where Lucius was resting and bother him to mark her time when she was training. When Herminia was recruited to become a runner, she assigned Lucius as her backer. Because she was really good at her job, they trained Lucius to become her backer. They've been inseparable ever since.
