Jolt Technician

This is a person who has learned how to build Jolt based electrical systems, or power systems that is used to power most of the devices, machines and ships in Human Colonised Space.

A Technician of one type is the most common, as few both learning all as they means small to large use of Jolt. To become a Technician there is a study of Jolt followed by testing of that knowledge but also the building of a device, repairing a device and the correct diagnosing of problems when a power system fails.

Qualifications

To become an apprentice you must pass a test that covers the basic of all Jolt, its history and the use of Jolt in all powering of devices, systems and ships, depending on which type of Jolt they are interested in.
To pass out of apprenticeship you must repair and build a device, construct a simple power system and correcting identify what Jolt Type is used and why, along with grade test on all aspects of Jolt usage.
Journeyman is the next stage, this is usually done under a Master Jolt Tech, and they practice in repairing, building and working with power systems of Jolt.

Career Progression

There is Apprentice to Journeyman then to Master in a particular Jolt type. All Jolt Type has to follow that, with the testing at each stage

Payment & Reimbursement

Apprentice are given a small base wage that is only to cover living costs and the cost of study materials, and a small bursary to cover basic tools
Journeyman receives wages, from mid-range of wages, they have a set of rates they can charge for jobs or anything they build, same with repairs
Master is able to set his own prices for his work, a base rate for a job, if build a device then he sets the price

Other Benefits

Jolt Technicians are able to get jobs on most planet, space stations, and if prove reliable a lot of work offers both in large companies or private, or self-employment

History

The use of Jolt and the develop of how it could used in the society saw them gain prominence, but it also has a nasty underbelly, as all power needs rely on Jolt, and as they are the only ones - they are often arrogant and gouge to increase their status/purse.
