The Prototype Gate-Drive

A Long-Lost artifact, of rumored existence. The Gate-Drive is a concept written about in some documents; Scattered pages vaguely describing it's operation. The device is said to be able to form a hole in drillspace capable of moving objects tens of times bigger than objects currently accessible. The drive is so named as it was a suggested creation for systems that cannot operate gates of their own. As such, the Gate Drive rivals the gates for individual carry capacity, but is unable to provide the instantaneous travel. Despite this, it is still a highly sought after item for it's immense potential.
The Codai Government has boots on the ground, searching for the item so that it may further bulk out it's fleets and expand it's dominion through the universe. With this drive, it could move it's entire military with a singular, large drive. The pocket it would build can carry everything; and their movement unprecedented. They could blot out all competition.
Believed to have been created a few months before the Scream (based on dated design documents) it is not believed to have been tested, but the math that we have access to checks out. The developer is unknown, and the accredited body (The Universal Research and Study Agency) has never been found in any records. After the events, information on the device appears to have gone dark. Rumor states that it was transported to this sector, and that it's traveling party was assaulted over Vivis - explaining the disk's presence there.
After this, however, there is nothing - even in the way of rumors. Due to it's relatively close development to the events of The Scream, there are no known repositories that would hold further information on it - and yet the governments of the void still seek this item.
The Asan seek the artifact so that they may move their orbital structures, unmatched in their defensive capabilities, to other worlds - to enslave the planets below with their super weapons. With this drive, their government would no longer be trapped to their own world, but could construct the ultimate war vessel.
Paladia seeks a much different goal. PAL.AD.IN wishes to use this drive as a way to attempt to create a permanent home within Drillspace, impervious to the Universe, so that it may attempt to abuse the very laws of reality. With a drive like this, and the power already held in the planet's reactors, the hope would be to accelerate time; to spend but a second in our universe, and thousands of years in their own. Their technological victory would be unprecedented, their understanding of physics unending, and their world would become as Gods.
Many independent groups seek it for their own reasons, but these are among the greatest. It may or may not exist, but if it does - it is best that none handle such an item.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

This item may work as a regular spike drive, but has unfathomably precise construction. Every atom is built in such a way that it will bend space to the very designs of it's own mathematics. In a sentence, this item represents the ultimate in the understanding of the Standard Model of Physics, and so much more beyond it.
Normal spike drive interfaces would, in theory, be completely unable to understand this device as a drive. As it is so uniquely engineered, despite working the same way, so many components have specifications with such high degrees of specificity that anything not built to understand this would simply read a null value. An interface software exists, however, and is the reason this device is believed to be legitimate. It was originally found on a Vivis by the tyrannical government, however it has not been possible to retrieve due to the locked nature of the planet. Despite bombardment efforts from Asan, the shields on the planet's city have been impenetrable. All that is known is that the disk exists, this much is definite.
If one was to get the drive, and either make their own interface or retrieve the disk, they would be unparalleled - but also be the largest target in not just the sector, but the known universe.
