The Asan Conflict
The Asan Conflict (Known on Asan as "The Day of the Burning Heavens") was an attempt by the Majorus Oligarchy to advance into and claim territory on the planet of the Asan. This would lead to a devastating loss on their hands, as recon information had been poor and the military's instructions hap-hazard.
The fleet arrived in the space above Asan, and instantly became aware of issues. The entire plan was already known by the enemy; there had been a mole within the organization. The Oligarchy forces were devastated, spreading debris through into the atmosphere; those on the surface reported streaks of metals, burning up in the atmosphere as the vessels they belonged to had been torn asunder. Even a pivot in strategy was not enough to save many of the ships, as the initial disorientation had allowed the advanced Asan weapons to simply tear through the enemy fleet.
Those that survived quickly retreated, tasked with defending the home station from attack. The attack never came, even with a devastated military. The Asan simply wished to remain on their world - for whatever reason.
The Conflict
Deployment
Deployment was performed via synchronous Drillspace entry, leaving from Codai Majorus and heading directly to Asan homeworld via their recently improved transportation technologies. Vessels then regrouped on the edge of the system, assuming combat formation and drilling as close to the planet as possible.
Outcome
In the Short Term, Majorus station was left almost entirely undefended. With only one major capital ship left (which was, in and of itself, heavily damaged) many adversaries would be able to pierce the defenses of the station. Thankfully, there was no noted retaliation, and the navy began replenishment immediately.
Aftermath
The Asan war lowered confidence in the ability for the Oligarchy to operate the government as a whole. Resistance movements began to form, and over the next 40 years this would build until a breaking point. Some historians point to this as the major turning points in the Government's history. Meanwhile, on the Asan side, the planet learned not to trust the Codai Government, and cut all relations. This has persisted until the modern day, where the Asan have closed borders against everyone with even the slightest affiliation with the Codai Government. This was also the first time that Asan weapons technology was witnessed and documented, leading to wide-spread fear of the little world.
Historical Significance
Legacy
The Asan War is seen as one of the biggest failures in the history of the Codai Government, and is seen as one of the many events that lead to the riots of 3048. Memorials to those who died in the conflict are displayed in the Codai Government section of the Museum of the Universe aboard the Majorus.
